About The Blue Stag School
Time has passed from those early days, when thoughts of shooting were first engendered in the working gray matter of our CEO. Exposure to the outdoors and nature as a means to exist has lasted for over 85 years. You might, then, assume that this was the "cradle" of the Blue Stag School.
Transversing the hills and plains, woods and fields, dust and steams in search of 'food for the table' was not a hobby. My father and mother both knew how to train their brood for such survival. Many a time, I sat at night propped up against a tree trunk waiting with my father for the dogs to roust out a raccoon which we would skin and prepare the fur for sale to Sears Roebuck Fur Dept.
Our parents were positive teachers. All was black and white with them. You either did or did not. My father would hand my brother or I a J.C.Higgins 22 with one bullet and bade us to fill the table with a squirrel that day. I remember one time when I was first allowed to take the singleshot 12 gauge. I was hunting with my cousin in the neighbor's cornfield. Up jumped a rabbit and I let the lead fly. With no practice myself, the rabbit kept on leisurely hopping. Fearing the consequences of this failure, I grabbed a club and chased that darn rabbit all over that cornfield until it got tired and also got clubbed. I proudly returned the shotgun and the rabbit to my father and avoided a whuppin. My father could probably see that the rabbit was beaten to death, but said nothing. Their hunting secret was to either return with food for the table or get a whuppin and go to bed without supper. That is how my brother and I learned to shoot ACCURATELY. Sometimes, even if we brought back the bullet, but no food, we still got a whuppin because the family went hungry. My mother applied the same training technique with a fishing pole. We learned to provide and survive.
But my brother and I went on to become expert shooters as we served in the military during the big one - WWII. My brother retired from the Post Office while I retired from the U.S.Air Force. Both of us had married and increased the population.
By 1971, my youngest son showed interest in guns, so I decided to become a certified NRA Shooting Instructor for the benefit of my son and the Boy Scouts. From that time on, others were asking for my help, so, I began (sort of) doing it professionally. It wasn't until 1980 that I decided to name my endeavor and I selected the "Blue Stag School of Firearms". Later incorporating as "The Blue Stag School Inc". We have been training both shooters and instructors for over 35 years.

Our hundreds of graduates have been from all walks and disciplines of life as they came from Prince Edward Island to Georgia and from Illinois to the Atlantic Ocean. The majority were from Massachusetts and New Hampshire, mainly because we did not do extensive promotion.
The Blue Stag School Inc is operated and managed as a wholely owned sole proprietorship. We carry stock, but, do not list it. Our Home Office is in Chelmsford Massachusetts. We have three facilities in Massachusetts and one in New Hampshire. We conduct training in home class rooms and on-the-road at approved facilities.
